New Canonical Announcement: Ubuntu 23.10 Reaches End of Life

On 4 June 2024, Canonical announced that Ubuntu 23.10 Reaches End of Life on July 11, 2024. Ubuntu 23.10, codenamed “Mantic Minotaur,” is an interim release of the Ubuntu operating system. Released on October 20th, 2023, it features the GNOME 45 desktop environment and is powered by the Linux 6.5 kernel series. As an interim release, it is supported for nine months with software and security updates, making it a short-term solution compared to long-term supported versions of Ubuntu. After July 11th, 2024, it will no longer receive software or security updates.

Ubuntu 23.10 Reaches End of Life – Upgrade To Newer Versions

As the end of life of Ubuntu 23.10 is coming, it is recommended that users are urged to upgrade to a newer, supported Ubuntu version. The end-of-life information is visible in the Software & Updates utility from installation, allowing users to plan their upgrades accordingly.

Ubuntu 23.10 will become vulnerable to threats after its end of life on July 11th, 2024. Users are strongly advised to Upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS “Noble Numbat” as soon as possible. Ubuntu 24.04 LTS offers basic support for 5 years, until May 31st, 2029, with an option to extend support up to 10 years through a free Ubuntu Pro subscription. Users are encouraged to upgrade promptly to ensure continued security and support.
