Samsung Display looks set to light up CES 2025 with next-generation OLED innovations.
Samsung Display, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, revealed its vision for the future of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology on January 5. Samsung Display said it plans to showcase a wide range of new OLED products for IT and automotive devices at CES 2025.
The CES 2025 show, which will be open to the public from January 7 to 10 in Las Vegas, will showcase Samsung’s latest OLED innovations for tablets, laptops, computer displays, and automotive displays, according to MSN.
Highlights of CES 2025 include groundbreaking products such as the 18.1-inch foldable panel, a new generation of sliding displays, Under-Panel Camera (UPC) technology for vehicles, and bendable Central Information Displays (CIDs), all of which will be introduced at the event.
Designed for IT applications, the 18.1-inch foldable OLED display transforms from a tablet-sized display to a 13.1-inch laptop-sized display when fully unfolded, increasing portability.
Samsung’s giant foldable OLED display specs
This display is a step up from Samsung’s 17.3-inch foldable OLED panel that it introduced in 2022. When unfolded, the display can act as a tablet or a large monitor. When folded, it can also be used as a laptop, with the top half used as a display and the bottom half as a touch keyboard. These models of laptops were first released by Asus and Lenovo.
Samsung didn’t launch a commercial product with a 17.3-inch foldable OLED panel in 2022. It probably won’t launch a device with an 18.1-inch foldable panel either. Laptops with foldable screens are very expensive and don’t offer enough use cases to justify paying more than regular laptops; that’s why Asus and Lenovo’s foldable laptops didn’t sell well.
