A few days ago, a display supply chain expert reported that Apple is working on a new Studio Display with mini-LED technology.

Now, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has confirmed this. According to Gurman, Apple is testing prototypes of a display codenamed J427, which is likely to be released in 2026. The display will replace the current Studio Display and will have a similar design to the 2022 model.

According to Mark Gurman, Apple is currently working on a new Studio Display model and there will be no new Pro Display XDR model. The Pro Display XDR was introduced in 2019 and was almost out of reach for most consumers due to its $5,000 price tag. Of course, Apple is still interested in the professional user market, but the new Pro Display XDR is not a priority for the Cupertino company.

According to Gurman, Apple is committed to the professional market and is working on new Mac Pro and Mac Studio models.

The new Apple Studio Display model is likely to have a similar design to the 2022 model and will have roughly the same screen size. According to various reports, Apple is currently in the early stages of designing and producing prototypes. It is likely that the monitor will arrive with the MacBook Pro M5.

Display supply chain expert Ross Young had previously said that Apple may also use ProMotion technology in its new monitor.

The current model has a refresh rate of 60 Hz, but with ProMotion technology, the monitor will have an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.

Gurman also says that Apple is likely working on an iMac larger than 24 inches.
