On June 5, 2024, Parrot Security released Parrot OS 6.1, the latest stable version of their Debian-based distribution for ethical hacking and penetration testing, featuring updated tools and improvements.

More than four months after the release of Parrot OS 6.0, Parrot OS 6.1 continues to use the Linux 6.5 kernel series for the 64-bit (x86_64) generic images, and Linux 6.6 LTS for the Raspberry Pi image, which has been updated to enhance support for the latest Raspberry Pi 5 board.

New Improvements in Parrot OS 6.1

The Raspberry Pi image now includes new drivers for better compatibility with external devices and proper Wi-Fi support for the Raspberry Pi 400 computer.

Anonsurf, Parrot’s anonymous mode wrapper for routing connections through the Tor network, has been updated to version 4.2. It improves stability and fixes issues in the launcher script for enhanced anonymity and a better user experience.

This release also reintroduces the parrot-updater utility, which prompts users with update reminders to keep their systems up to date. Additionally, it patches the Nmap network scanner utility to fix errors in its MS SQL scanning Lua script, applies a crucial security update to BIND9, and includes the latest security updates for the Chromium web browser.
