2 Ways To Install Telegram Desktop on AlmaLinux 9 / RHEL 9

2 Ways To Install Telegram Desktop on AlmaLinux 9 / RHEL 9

Number 1 – Telegram Desktop Installation via Flatpak in RHEL 9

When you are done, you can search for the Telegram application by using the following Flatpak command in AlmaLinux 9 and RHEL 9:
sudo flatpak search telegramIn your output, you will see:
As you can see, the latest telegram desktop ID is org.telegram.desktop. To install it, you can run the command below:
sudo flatpak install flathub org.telegram.desktop
Enter Y to start your Telegram desktop app:

Another way to install the Telegram desktop is to use the Snap package manager. First, you must install and enable Snapd packages in RHEL 9 by using the following commands:
# sudo dnf install epel-release -y
# sudo dnf install snapd -y
# sudo ln -s /var/lib/snapd/snap /snap
# sudo systemctl enable --now snapd.socketThen, restart your terminal session.
When you are done, use the following Snapd command to get the Telegram desktop app in AlmaLinux 9 and RHEL 9:
sudo snap install telegram-desktopWhen your installation is completed, you will get the following output:
Launch Telegram Desktop Application in RHEL 9

sudo telegram-desktopOr from your Application finder, you can search for Telegram to open the App:
Start Using Telegram Desktop
Once you launch your Telegram app, you will see the following screen. Click Start Messaging.

Uninstall or Remove Telegram in RHEL 9
If you no longer want to use Telegram, you can easily uninstall it from your server. To do this, you can use the following commands:
Uninstall via Snapd:
sudo snap remove telegram-desktop
Uninstall via Flatpak:
sudo flatpak remove org.telegram.desktop
